10 Torah verses to help you reach your full potential
We’ve all made mistakes throughout our lives that shape who we are as individuals. With each mistake, comes wisdom and strength to become a better person.
As we embark on the journey of life, we have the power to learn and grow each and every day. We must not take life, or the obstacles we face, for granted, for God is always there to ensure we learn a lesson along the way.
Here are 10 scriptures from the Torah that can give you the strength to become the best possible version of yourself.
1. You have a purpose
“And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance” (Genesis 45:7)
It’s important to remember that God has a unique plan for every single one of us. He has taken the time to carefully design each plan in order for each of us to be graced with bliss and joyfulness. In return, God expects us to explore the many dimensions of life to become acquainted with our inner selves.
2. You have a guide
“God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you’“ (Exodus 3:14)
No matter what hardships or obstacles you may face in life, God will always be right there with you to overcome your most pressing challenges. God’s purpose is to enable all of us to succeed. For this reason, he is committed to watching over us in times of good and in times of bad. We must not be afraid to go outside of our comfort zone for God promises to be there when we fall.
3. You have someone that understands you
“The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend” (Exodus 33:11)
Friendship has the power to help us feel both supported and understood. Making connections with people that hold similar values to ourselves enables us to learn from other people and become wiser. Friendship also teaches us the power of face-to-face communication and the means in which we can learn from those that we trust.
4. You are special
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27)
Whenever you are feeling like giving up, always remember that God created you with his own hands. God loves you and cares about you for you were a part of his vision. You must love yourself and forgive yourself for any mistakes you make along the way since God believes you are worthy.
5. You are kind
“ Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:18)
The Torah teaches us that loving and forgiving others is just as important as loving and forgiving ourselves. Everyone makes mistakes and we must remember that hurting others in times of struggle only serves to exacerbate the issue. Treating others with respect has the power to transform the way society views human connection.
6. You are independent
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it” (Genesis 2:15).
God created determined human beings that have the potential to achieve great things. This stems from our ability to devote our complete attention to various pursuits in life. In order to sustain this level of independence and ambition we must trust ourselves and all we have to offer in this world.
7. You are confident
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
There is no need to fear the unknown because you will always have God, your forever ally, right there by your side. In light of this, we can go on an unlimited number of adventures and create a list of challenging goals without worrying about where life will take us next. Each adventure we embark on will bring us that much closer to discovering who we truly are.
8. You have integrity
“And must confess the sin they have committed. They must make full restitution for the wrong they have done, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the person they have wronged” (Numbers 5:7)
In order to learn from our mistakes, we must admit to our wrongdoings and bring light to those we have harmed. Being honest about our sins can help us better understand the reasons for why we committed them, thus reducing the likelihood we are to commit them again in the future. With this comes complete forgiveness and a fresh start to be unapologetically human.
9. You are powerful
“God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground’” (Genesis 1:28)
God gave us the entire world for it symbolizes a map of endless possibilities. As humans, it is our responsibility to explore each and every opportunity that is presented to us. As more people enter on to this earth, we must spread out to new places and explore our many gifts.
10. You are loved and know how to love
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5)
As long as you love God, you will be loved by God. God’s love will bring you an infinite supply of joy and affection. Once you have learned to fully love God, you have reached your full potential.
