5 ways to share faith in this fast-growing app
Let’s be real. Being a person of faith on social media is daunting. However, there’s some simple ways to connect with friends and share your faith.
BeReal App
Move over, Facebook and Instagram. There’s a new(er) photo-sharing app and a lot of young people are signing up. Its active monthly users have skyrocketed this year by more than 315%, according to data from Apptopia, which tracks and analyzes performance.
BeReal encourages users to share a slice of their life in real time. It was launched in early 2020 by an entrepreneur in France but a majority of its users–at least 65%–have signed up this calendar year. Every day at a different time, everyone is notified simultaneously to capture and share a photo in two minutes.
Sharing your faith
While it can be an “authentic” way to connect with your friends, BeReal can also be a simple way to connect your friends and faith in the middle of a busy day.
Here are 5 ways to share your faith and be real (just keep in mind these are things to think about in order to share real (not staged) moments of faith):
1) Share your story. What and why do you believe? In what ways has faith impacted your life? People love hearing your story! Write or type your testimony and take a picture.
2) Demonstrate faith in action. Post a photo from the soup kitchen, nursing home, mission trip, or benefit walk. Show how you are motivated by faith to care for others in need.
3) Share a peek of your quiet space. Is there a place where you meditate, read sacred texts, and/or pray? Take a pic and share glimpse of it within your circle.
4) Post pics of creation. Are you in or nearby nature? Take a photo of creation in all its raw beauty and/or how you’re caring for it as a good steward.
5) Share a pic of people you love. The basis of most faiths is love. Showing love for your loved ones is a beautiful expression of faith.
Faith is embedded and represented in line with ordinary and everyday life. There are always authentic ways to share it in a collective faith experience.
