High school grad goes from 40-day coma to testimony of faith

Diego Diaz, a high school graduate from Fresno, California, awoke from a 40-day coma after a traumatic car accident and now he won’t stop talking about God.

“Every time they want me to talk, I’m always like, ‘God did it,” he told Fox 26 News.

In June, Diaz was involved in a devastating car accident that left him with severe head injuries, including swelling in his brain that required immediate surgery. Following the surgery, Diaz slipped into a coma for 40 days, during which time his family was told to prepare for the worst.

“I just got on my knees, and I mean I poured my heart out to God. And I begged him. I begged him to keep him, and I also begged him, I said ‘if you’re not going to keep him here with quality of life, just take him with you,’” Diaz’s dad says.

But the family never lost hope, praying continually for his recovery. Miraculously, against all odds, Diaz woke up. But what truly astonished his family and caregivers was Diaz’s account of what happened while he was in a coma.

Diaz said God “threw him a white ball,” symbolizing that He was not finished with Diaz’s life yet. Diaz said he believes that this was a divine message, a promise that he had more to accomplish in this world.

The family calls Diaz’s miraculous recovery a “walking testimony of their faith.”

Today, Diaz’s story serves as a beacon of hope for others facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. The message is clear: never give up, even when the odds seem impossible, because your faith and prayer can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
