How Wikipedia’s co-Founder went from skepticism to faith

Larry Sanger, co-founder of Wikipedia, has shared his journey from agnostic skepticism to Christianity—a story of searching, questioning, and finding belief.

Raised in the Lutheran Church, Sanger began doubting his faith as a teen, eventually calling himself agnostic. As a philosopher, he embraced skepticism, trusting only what could be known with certainty. But over time, he wondered if he had dismissed Christianity too quickly.

Conversations with skeptics revealed a contrast—many were closed to reconsidering their views, while he remained open to exploring truth. That curiosity led him back to the teachings of Christ.

Recently, Sanger declared publicly, “It is finally time for me to confess and explain, fully and publicly, that I am a Christian.” He is now preparing for confirmation in the Anglican Church in North America, continuing his journey of faith with purpose and conviction.

His story reminds us: honest questions can lead to deeper truth—and sharing our faith can inspire others to seek their own.
