‘All Glory Goes to Him’: Simone Manuel flexes skills at last minute, heads to Tokyo Olympics

On the last night of U.S. Swimming Trials, 24-year-old Olympic gold medalist Simone Manuel won first place by one hundredth of a second! This means she will go to Tokyo to compete on the Olympic USA Swimming in the 50m freestyle.

Watch as Manuel praises God after her win, describing how important her faith is to her and the value of blessings and hard work: “All glory goes to Him.”

Manuel said she felt so many emotions leading up to the moment. Despite support from her competitors, as a Black female swimmer, Manuel said she had battled depression after not making the 100m. However, it was her faith that allowed her to keep going and press forward.

In just a few seconds, Manuel proved that adversity can build victorious strength.
