‘Donating my flowers’: Shooting survivor Deserae Turner begins service mission
Deserae Turner was shot in the head in 2017 and has made an amazing recovery since. Through her healing journey, she had to learn many things about faith, perseverance, and hope.
She realized that she loves flowers so she turned them into a hobby and a service for others. Deserae is a member of the LDS Church and now does service missions involving flower donations to nursing homes and hospital patients in recovery.
“Right now I’m donating my flowers and putting them in bouquets and vases to donate them to hospice care and nursing homes,” she said.
Deserae thinks that where flowers bloom, so does hope. She is hopeful for the future and her faith.
“I am a disabled, high-functioning girl, but I am beautiful.”
