Justin Bieber opens up about his faith: Jesus ‘pulled me out’ of my dirt
Justin Bieber, who is promoting his latest album “Changes,” discussed his journey as a Christian during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
The 25-year-old superstar has been offering candid glimpses into his recording process as well as his health struggles and past drug use in a YouTube docuseries titled “Seasons.” However, in the interview with Lowe, Bieber described in detail how he has evolved in his faith.
Bieber explained that he’d had “bad examples” of Christians in his life that would say one thing and do another.
Now the way the singer looks at God is a lot more intimate.
“I’m not trying to earn God’s love by doing good things. God has already loved me for who I am before I did anything to earn or deserve it.”
The turning point came during a “dark” period in his life when Bieber began to explore who Jesus really was.
“Jesus wasn’t this religious elite guy…but he was in the dirt, and he found me in my dirt and pulled me out.”
Justin Bieber opened up about his rekindled Christian faith in a remarkable interview in which he reveals that the turning point in his life came when he realized that “following Jesus is actually turning away from sin.”

Ultimately, Bieber said his goal isn’t to proselytize, but to be frank about the impact God has had on his life.
“I never want to be someone that’s trying to persuade anyone to believe in what I believe,” he said. “I think God persuades people. But I definitely want to tell my story so that if that resonates with anybody they can hopefully learn from it.”
