Mom’s ‘desperate’ prayer speaks to us all

The Omicron variant of COVID-19 has brought a new wave of disruptions and stress for many families—especially those that rely on day care, preschool, and other shared child care—who have already endured almost two years of strain.

An increase in infections—and breakthrough infections among the fully vaccinated and boosted—means more struggles for working parents plunged sporadically into the role of homeschool teacher, again and again. And not everyone is prepared or thrilled with this enormous task.

Thank God for comedienne Branalyn Shropshire, who stepped in with this desperate prayer posted to YouTube. The sentiment speaks to all of us having to wear a multitude of hats at home. (You gotta laugh to keep from cying, right?)

“Father God, I am your humble servant. What I am NOT is a math teacher, God. Lord God, the spirit of Common Core has attacked our household, and right now the only thing we have in common is frustration and no answer to the math problem…”

If this is you or someone you know, then let us all pray.
