10 Verses From The Torah That Can Help You During Difficult Times

Our world is in a current state of fear, anxiety, and chaos.

Whether it’s from the effects of quarantine or racial injustice, people all over the world are dealing with a number of hardships. Our struggles may greatly differ, but we’re all impacted and thus in desperate need of some positivity and hope.

Praying and reading scriptures can help put us in a healthier state of mind. God is always with us and sometimes we just need that daily reminder to keep moving forward.

Here are 10 scriptures from the Torah affirming that can help encourage us to persevere in tough times.

1. You are never alone

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” ( Deuteronomy 31:6 ).

No matter what happens, know that God will always be there with you every step of the way. If you’ve been social distancing, you may feel isolated and lonely, but you’re not alone. God will always be there to listen to your prayers and help you through obstacles. If you’ve been oppressed and don’t feel heard, you have a voice God is willing to listen to.

2. You are safe

“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” ( Psalms 4:8 ).

Yes, we remain in a state of uncertainty, but always remember that you are protected by God. The spread of Covid-19 and the occurrence of social unrest may have impacted how we feel about this world. As human beings it is normal for us to fear the unknown. We may be afraid but this fear is only temporary because God is always one step ahead of us, removing the barriers that prevent us from living a safe and happy life.

3. You are not judged

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” ( Samuel 16:7 ).

It is important to remember that we all make mistakes. However, we are not defined by these mistakes nor are we defined by our physical appearance. Simply making a mistake does not make someone a bad person if they feel guilt, Our heart and our conscience is what defines us. God remembers us for our virtues, not for our moments of failure. We must remember that in life, sometimes we must fail to succeed. God sees us not for our mistakes, but for how we grow from them.

4. You are strong

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” ( Isaiah 40:31 ).

As long as you continue to hold faith close to your heart and reserve a place for God, then he will always reserve a place for you in his world of giving. God believes in us even when we don’t believe in ourselves. All we have to do is think of him and we will get through any challenge that comes our way. The power invested in God is stronger than any epidemic ever could be simply because it is genuine.

5. You have a bright future

“Depend on the Lord in whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” ( Proverbs 16:3 ).

Holding God close to your heart will ensure that all of your dreams will become a reality. Everything happens for a reason and that is because God knows exactly what we need and when we need it to happen. This verse indicates that although our present-day society is plagued by misfortune, our future remains bright. Our sorrow is only temporary for we have God to alleviate the pain.

6. You are a gift

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” ( Genesis 1:1 ).

God created YOU. He had the power to create anything and anyone he wanted to create and he chose to create you. You are a gift from God. You were created by God for a reason. The main objective of life is for you to uncover what that reason is and what your purpose is on this earth.

7. You are growing more and more every day

“And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the Lord and with people.” ( Samuel 2:26 ).

Every second of every day is a learning experience. We are constantly learning, through our experiences and mistakes, how to become the person God yearns for us to become. Even in life’s most troublesome moments, we are rewarded with the attainment of new morals, ethics, and values that shape who we are as human beings.

8. You are young

“But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.” ( Jeremiah 1:7-9 ).

You are never too young to have a voice. Being young does not mean that you cannot defend yourself and take a stand for what you believe is right. In addition, being young means that you have the desired amount of time necessary to make a positive change in your life. It is never too late to make a change, nor is it ever too early. Being young symbolizes exuberance and opportunity. It is a strength as opposed to a weakness.

9. You have everything you need

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” ( Genesis 1:26 ).

Everything we need to live a happy and healthy life has been graciously provided to us by God. The world is full of love and harmony and thus we are never limited. However, the world is one complicated puzzle that hides its presents in inexplicable ways. As human beings, it is our role to miraculously uncover the glorious mysteries life has to offer. Therefore, with God’s presence we can successfully persevere and make our way past the current traumas our world has been faced with.

10 . You are forgiven

“But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.”( Nehemiah 9:17 ).

Nothing you do could ever cause you to lose God’s trust and love as long as you remain faithful to him. He will be there for you, during your good days and during your bad days. You cannot lose faith for God’s powers are infinite.
