Multifaith Campus 101
Has your higher education taken religious diversity seriously?
A recent evaluation by Interfaith America on how campuses are performing in this area showed some hopeful signs, with 89 percent of respondents saying it is important for people of different faiths to work together on matters of common concern, and 70 percent saying they were committed to bridging religious divides. But are colleges and universities providing what students need to succeed in this area?
The same evaluation found that only 14 percent of college students actually participate in interfaith dialogue, 11 percent participate in interfaith action projects, and 9 percent participate in interfaith training. On top of that, fewer than 50 percent say they spend time learning about religious diversity.
This series derived from resources provided by Interfaith America takes a closer look at ways students can build bridges between and to other faith communities without compromising their ideals or beliefs.
